In May 2005 – Henry Boot Developments and Life Property won a competitive tender process carried out by North Somerset Council to redevelop the Tropicana.
In 2006 a development agreement was reached between North Somerset Council, Henry Boot and Life Property to progress a scheme.
In November 2007, Henry Boot and Life Property published their proposals for the site for public consultation. It is anticipated than a final planning application will be submitted in February 2008.
The proposals include an indoor swimming pool, an eight screen cinema, a 20 lane bowling alley, restaurants, a 96-bed hotel, children’s play centre and car parking facilities.
