Absolutely Ridiculous!

Why on earth does Weston "need" another hotel. Why not give the the Majority of Westonians and visitors what they really want, an open air pool in the summer and a covered one in the winter. If you want better hotels then reduce the tax on the existing ones by the amount that they reinvest in their own hotels. That way I think you would see some progress.
I wonder why Brighton has not felt the need to build an ugly carbuncle on the sea front, Maybe they have a council who have some idea of what makes people want to come to their town, or just maybe they have enough money.
Henry Boot have been shown to be corrupt by being investigated by the DTI for price fixing so anyone who is naive enough to believe that they would not try to con the council or the general public is kidding themselves.

Stop prevaricating and get on with it!

This town badly needs some modern facilities. It is down at heel and past it's sell by date.

Perhaps Henry Boot should be given the Dolphin Square development as well.

My only concern is that current economic problems will stop the project.

I wonder if there is a conspiracy about the Council metings to review the plans for the Tropicana?

1. 15000+ signed petition objections seems to be being disregarded.

2. The whole of the council are not allowed to vote. Why not?

3. When phoning the Council some how been told that only a few people have objected. Well my wife and I have both emailed objections and they have not been included on the site. We have since forwarded our objections again but still no acknowledgement or inclusion. How many more "against objections" have been filtered out?

What conclusion should we come to about our Council's willingness to listen to the residents of Weston? Is it an already "done deal"? Have the public consulatations been a charade to give the impression of democracy?

I await the council's response - but not holding my breath!

When are the views of the masses going to be listened to! The revised plans may look attractive but unfortunately the site is wrong. How hard is it to understand the words WE JUST WANT A POOL AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES! We have hotels aplenty, we have a cinema, we have restaurants. YES to bowling alley, YES to swimming pool, NO to huge hotel and NO to car park taking up our beach lawn space. Its a beautiful building I have to agree but on the beach in Weston-super-Mare? Why does it all come down to profit because it seems that unless the hotel, restaurants, cinema is included it's not worth doing. This has been going on too long. If we let the beach lawns be turned into a car park that will open the flood gates for other projects in the future. Our beach lawns are beautiful how they are and I, for one, will not let them be dug up to be replaced by concrete just so people can park right outside! If the plans were for a car park under the beach lawns, and then everything was replaced as it is that might be a different matter. North Somerset Council - LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE, thats what you were elected for.

The "new" plans don't show enough so far. There is still the imposition on the Beach Lawns, and Boot are playing down the impact of raising the Promenade on both sides, further restricting Sea Views.

This still seems a gross violation of the sea front, and out of all proportion to what is needed. There are so many other "run-down" areas of Weston that this project could go. Why insist on other buildings fitting in with the culture, style and environment, and then allow this mega-monstrosity?!

Please let's fight to stop and encroachment on the Beach Lawns and Sea views form the Promenade.

The Beach, The Lawns and the Sea Views are the greatest of Weston's assets. the Henry Boot plan is a violation of all of this. It must be stopped!

Definitely better than some previous designs but still, as mentioned above, it is too large and will take up too much of the green lawn section. Why does it have to be so massive? It is definitely going to break up the 'flow' of the seafront.
It's like sticking a cabbage between a line of Brussels sprouts - you're going to notice the cabbage!

The facilities etc that it will provide seem all well and good but a hotel? Another hotel?
Personally, I feel sorry for the properties/other hotels within distance which have their views corrupted by this monster. I'm sure that like me, many of the Westonians find the views along the promenade one of the most important parts of this greatly undervalued seaside town. And now this could be ruined? Shame on them.

Absolutely fantastic!!!
We live just up the road and can't wait for some modern facilities that are in walking distance!!!

The beach is going to become alive again with all the new development where we can stroll, take in the views, go for a swim, watch a movie then perhaps have a drink....hurry it up please we will be in our mid forties when it's finished.

Congratulations to Henry Boot for a great design and thank you for bringing some new vision to Weston-super-Mare!!!
