For those that didn’t attend the public exhibitions, below are some of the images presented by Henry Boot to show how their proposed Tropicana development in Weston-super-Mare will look. You can find the full details here.

What do you think? You can comment on these images by clicking on the comments link below. Thanks.

The developer rep at the Campus exhibition said that they weren’t convinced/sure about the pink/red sign facing down Clevedon Road. Other than that, it looks a bit big to me, but I guess it needs the hotel to be economically viable. At least it it’s a bit distinctive, partly because it’s designed onto the shell of the current trop.
much better than the previous design I saw that looked like Ikea. or was it done like that so whatever else was put forward would obviously be a much improved design so that we would agree to it
It’s appalling! It’s too high, too wide, and will destroy the central section of the Beach Lawns.
Also, the plans don’t reveal the that the promenade will be raised gradually either side of the building, further restricting sea views.
This is really appalling.
Give Boot the boot!

Torquay has a monstrosity on their promenade, the like of which was probably bamboozled through by their council.
Is this going to happen to us, will we have a monstosity that spoils the panoramic views from Weston sands.
The buildings opposite this building on Beach Rd will be devalued, why - loss of sea view.
The roads more congested.
And global warming - it may flood!
The people of Weston, who care, just want a swimming pool, like the one in Bridgewater, most mothers take their children there anyway.
Good luck to you Boot, you dont have my support.
Absolutely fantastic!!!
We live just up the road and can’t wait for some modern facilities that are in walking distance!!!
The beach is going to become alive again with all the new development where we can stroll, take in the views, go for a swim, watch a movie then perhaps have a drink….hurry it up please we will be in our mid forties when it’s finished.
Congratulations to Henry Boot for a great design and thank you for bringing some new vision to Weston-super-Mare!!!
Definitely better than some previous designs but still, as mentioned above, it is too large and will take up too much of the green lawn section. Why does it have to be so massive? It is definitely going to break up the ‘flow’ of the seafront.
It’s like sticking a cabbage between a line of Brussels sprouts - you’re going to notice the cabbage!
The facilities etc that it will provide seem all well and good but a hotel? Another hotel?
Personally, I feel sorry for the properties/other hotels within distance which have their views corrupted by this monster. I’m sure that like me, many of the Westonians find the views along the promenade one of the most important parts of this greatly undervalued seaside town. And now this could be ruined? Shame on them.
Stop prevaricating and get on with it!
This town badly needs some modern facilities. It is down at heel and past it’s sell by date.
Perhaps Henry Boot should be given the Dolphin Square development as well.
My only concern is that current economic problems will stop the project.

Absolutely Ridiculous!
Why on earth does Weston “need” another hotel. Why not give the the Majority of Westonians and visitors what they really want, an open air pool in the summer and a covered one in the winter. If you want better hotels then reduce the tax on the existing ones by the amount that they reinvest in their own hotels. That way I think you would see some progress.
I wonder why Brighton has not felt the need to build an ugly carbuncle on the sea front, Maybe they have a council who have some idea of what makes people want to come to their town, or just maybe they have enough money.
Henry Boot have been shown to be corrupt by being investigated by the DTI for price fixing so anyone who is naive enough to believe that they would not try to con the council or the general public is kidding themselves.
Cool! I can’t wait hurry up and build it it’s about time we had some modern facilities in Weston.
